Science Teacher Announcement - Ms. Anna Hendrickson
The Chesterton Academy of St. George is very excited to announce the hiring of a full time Science Teacher, Ms. Anna Hendrickson!
Born and raised in Jackson, Anna graduated from Aquinas College in 2015 with a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a minor in Biology. In 2017, she decided to continue her education in pursuit of becoming a Physician’s Assistant. After a few years of completing further education and applying for PA schools across the country, she received two acceptance letters, but by then, something had changed. Anna made the tough decision to decline the acceptance offers, saying, “… I declined because I didn’t feel that God was actually calling me to medicine…I realized I had been doing what I had wanted and never stopped to ask what God’s plan for me might be.”
This decision meant that Anna had to spend time growing in her relationship with God and discerning what He is calling her to do. She had never considered teaching until it was suggested to her during spiritual direction and around the same time, a position at the Chesterton Academy of St. George became available.
Ms. Hendrickson has grown very familiar with the Chesterton Academy of St. George over the course of the last year. Her youngest sister is a rising sophomore at the academy and her brother, John Paul, is the Director of Development. Anna shared, “When I first heard about Chesterton I was immediately attracted to the mission and the integration of our Faith into education.”
Matt Anderson, Headmaster of the academy, shared his excitement about the new addition, “We're blessed to have Anna Hendrickson joining our faculty next year. For the last two years, over and over again God has brought the school the exact right people at the exact right times. Anna is another example of that. Her fidelity to Christ and her knowledge of the Sciences will help our students more deeply discover the beauty and wonder of the created order.”
Anna looks forward to sharing her passion and perspective of the sciences with her students, saying, “From the smallest particles of matter to the unfathomably large universe, the Power of God is on display. He could easily have made us simple creatures on a single planet but, in His Goodness, He created a beautiful universe for us to wonder at and to enjoy. My goal is to help students know God’s love by knowing His Creation.”
Please pray for Ms. Hendrickson and the rest of the Chesterton Academy community as we continue to prepare for year two!
